Early Spring Pre-Emergent Lawn Application
Today we applied a pre-emergent herbicide to your lawn with a controlled release granular fertilizer. This application is very important to preventing new weeds from germinating throughout the upcoming spring and summer months. The fertilizer today will help with a thorough Spring green up across your entire lawn. Please see the information below regarding best practices and any safety concerns with the service we provided today.
Keys to Success
The pre-emergent herbicide works best when watered into the soil either with natural rainfall over the next few weeks, or by watering your lawn if conditions remain dry. The active ingredients create a sterile soil layer for up to (4) months to prevent annual weeds like crabgrass from germinating in your lawn. This application will also prevent new grass seed placed in your lawn from germinating as well. This is why we strongly urge lawn seeding and over-seeding to be completed in early September after weed pressure subsides and the pre-emergent herbicide is no longer preventing germination.
Keep Off the Lawn - Recommended
The product applied today was a dry granular fertilizer coated with the pre-emergent herbicide. While standard protocols require us to recommend staying off the treated lawn areas for both people and pets, we realize this isn't always possible. Because this is a dry product, it is very stable and will not track or spread easily. We recommend entering the lawn sparingly as needed until the dew, if any, the morning following the lawn application has dried. Beyond that the lawn is safe to access for both people and pets.
